The BIG Pig Out began the first year after we moved to our current location.  Part anniversary party and part customer appreciation day, we wanted to do something fun to thank our customers for their loyalty.  Held every year on the Saturday closest to July 31st, if you haven’t joined us for one yet, you should make a point of coming out this year.  It’s sure to be a great time!
2009 – Commemorating our 6th year at our current spot, and 10 years since J.D.’s opened for business, we really put the OUT in Pig Out.  Customers could take part in our tradition of free dessert and $1 sandwiches, the bouncer and lots of prizes for the kids, as well as free Italian Ices to help battle that Georgia heat.  Later that afternoon, J.D. hosted our first true pig pickin’ under the tent in the parking lot.  It was an all-you-can-eat barbeque love fest.  Folks made their plates from the buffet line, or those feeling more adventurous were welcome to pick their own pork straight from the whole hogs that had been smoked all night the night before.  As the sun went down, two amazing bands entertained the crowds.  Highway 41, a kicky bluegrass band that amazed with plenty of old favorites as well as lots of new music suitable for dancing.   The second band, Kush, shares many of the same fans as J.D.’s Bar-B-Que.  Kush has been around since before there was a J.D.’s, and entertained with everyone’s favorite sing-along covers, and new material as well.  Friends, music, barbeque, and dancing… summer nights don’t get any better than this.
2008 – More $1 sandwiches and free desserts, and this year we brought in an inflatable bouncer for the kids.  It was smokin’ hot out there, but we had plenty of bottled water, and the kids loved it.

2007 – For those of you that have been in our store, you may have noticed and old-timey sign that says, “Hot Dog and a Coke 15¢”.  And for those that have asked about it, you’ve probably heard that deal is “tomorrow”.  Well, in 2007 “tomorrow” finally came, and in addition to our $1 sandwiches and free dessert, we also offered a hotdog and Coke for 15¢.  Strangely, we didn’t have too many takers.  The only thing we could figure was that y’all must have thought it was a joke…

2005-2006 – Continuing the tradition, we offered free desserts and $1 sandwiches again, and each year wondered how many pork sandwiches can one little place make and sell in the span of two hours!  (Hint:  A LOT!)

2004 – Our first anniversary at the new place.  We celebrated with free dessert all day (you can thank Sarah’s dad for that idea) and $1 pork sandwiches from 2pm-4pm.
